Modifications to Bandwidth Allocation Algorithms to Satisfy Remote Access Services Requirements

Abstract:

Remote Access Services are new services that enable network users to; share network resources, dialing-up to remote LAN, request services from remote server and doing a remote control to a remote machine. These services use network resources such as; Routers, Cables, Switches and Network Bandwidth. These resources are limited and have to be managed carefully to not cause any failure. First paper shows the requirements and the measurements of Network Bandwidth. Then it illustrates, analysis and compares between the different algorithms for Bandwidth Allocation and Reservation, such as; Complete Sharing, Complete Partitioning and Dynamic Bandwidth Partitioning. After that it shows the result of applying them on Remote Access Services. Finally it presents proposed modification to these algorithms to suit the functionality of Remote Access Services without causes network failure and in the same time guarantee services satisfactions and fairness.
