Motivational Factors for Employees – Support for Operational Risk Management within an Insurance Company

Abstract:

The last years of economic development led to fast changes in business environment. Therefore, companies are always in search of new technologies, new strategies in order to sustain all these quick changes. Regarding  operational risk management, there have been in time, many approaches, but there is a central element in every company that must not underestimated: the employee. Thus, companies must be aware of the fact that an important element for operational risk control and mitigation is the human factor. Despite the fact that technologies had replaced partially the emotional human factor, there cannot be a total replacement, in consequence, companies must create an internal working environment, that permit maximum level of performance on the one side and losses mitigation on the other side. Considering that the most causes of the operational risk occurrence are in connection with human factor, this paper is aimed to highlight the fact that using the appropriate motivational factors within a company, operational risk management could be improved and beside this, the financial performance of the company.
