Multiculturalism as an Alternative to the Development of Western Democracy and the Problems of Global Governance

Abstract:

Global content of modernity focuses on the idea of multiculturalism as the most constructive perspective of the development of human civilization as far as the principles of coexistence. The problem is now becoming ever more urgent amid the aggravation of the crisis of trust in the ideas of multiculturalism, government structures and their ability to resolve these problems. The article is based on the state governance methodology and analyses and generalizes the multiculturalism idea in its retrospect, those changes that have taken place in the perception of the idea of multiculturalism under the impact of challenges caused by the growing migration crises. Controversies and challenges for current multiculturalism in the context of democratization of global governance are highlighted; special attention is paid to the analysis of the future perspectives of the multiculturalism as the most feasible alternative for the development of the Western democracies. Exponentially growing global population, travel and migration, both legal and illegal, have created all the prerequisites for multiculturalism to stay and develop. Consequently, within the limits of liberal post modernity, there is a need to develop values based on human rights; policymakers must make policies to ensure the global governance structures can grapple with the overwhelming issues to provide tools, such as healthy communication between cultures to eliminate their differences, accept and enrich each other in order to lift the humanity to a new qualitative level.
