National Identity (NATID) Framework: Transferability to Malaysian Multi-Ethnic Market

Abstract:

This study examines the transferability of the national identity (NATID) framework using a Malaysian data sample, and this study extends the transferability of the NATID framework by establishing norms using the three major ethnic groups in Malaysia. Concerned with research methodology, the data for the present study were collected from academicians working in Malaysia using heterogeneous purposive sampling. From 600 surveys that we distributed, 403 were usable for analysis. The study uses an adaptive-etic approach to examine the transferability of the NATID framework to the Malaysian cultural context.  In terms of findings, by employing adaptive-etic approach, the analysis on the data provides strong support for the factor structure, internal consistency, and discriminant validity on the transferability of the NATID framework on Malaysian data sample.
