Abstract:
Statistics from the national council reported that thousands of hectares of agricultural land damaged during flood catastrophic in some parts of Malaysia in 2014. Sturdy homes and buildings collapsed, while roads cracked and infrastructure was crippled. This research employed qualitative method and was conducted in Kampung Gajah, Perak, Semenanjung Malaysia. The objectives of the study are to investigate the affected flood households’ vulnerability and their needs after the disaster. Next, the aim of the study is to assess the financial losses of the households. Findings indicates that they are vulnerable, their financial losses were unbearable and government assistance is highly needed for them to restart their life. Thus national protection should be developed under the national agenda to alleviate the affected flood households’ encumbrance.
