Abstract:
Electronic Catalog (eCatalog) has been applied along the years exclusively as a tool to support the ordering process of indirect materials and services, becoming one of the main enablers of the
electronic commerce. However, the electronic business (eBusiness) evolution has forced companies to search for new approaches to improve companies’ performance and overcome the challenges that emerge together with new market opportunities. This paper analyses the traditional use of eCatalog systems, describing their current functionalities and last innovations. This background will be then used to design three new eCatalog application scenarios to support companies to increase their procurement project performance, while expanding the traditional scope of eCatalog solutions.
