Abstract:
With the growth of digitalization of the economy and the emergence of its new varieties, for example, the “gig economy”, traditional ideas about the forms of employment are changing. This leads to the growth of alternative forms of employment, such as freelancing, self-employment, etc. Development of non-standard employment is beneficial both for the economy and for the workers themselves. However, in modern Russia, the level of non-standard work is low and the Government encourages its expansion. The purpose of this work was to study the role of expanding new forms of employment for modern Russia and the problems impeding the development of new forms of employment, and first of all, self-employment. The results of the study are based on an analysis of legislation, the factor analysis of official statistical data, and also on international comparisons. Using factor analysis, the value of expanding informal employment for the national economy is shown. The advantages and problems of using non-standard forms of employment and self-employment are summarized.
