Abstract:
The current study focuses on the importance that hospital unit managers have on hospital development. The manager of a hospital or a medical department, especially within institution that treat chronic patients, must possess a series of qualities. Through these qualities, correlated with specific strategies, the achievement of social and economic objectives is ensured and a more efficient medical practice is created. A medical manager must be oriented towards innovation, be able to make decisions and solve problems under pressure and possess superlative coordination and adaptation skills. In the study, a series of essential qualities that hospital managers should possess are outlined in relation to culture, national and international team management principles, and the characteristics that mark chronically ill patients apart from the rest of the patients in the medical units, along with a method for maximizing medical services provided to them, thus creating benefits for patients and the medical unit, relative to the regulations found in the contracts signed with the Health Organization and the Health Insurance House.
