Occupational Safety and Health of Employees in the Construction Industry in the Light of Construction Works in the Republic of Serbia’s public Railway Sector

Abstract:

Numerous specificities characterize the construction industry with respect to participants, dynamics, lifetime, the value of investments, and other segments. The main participants in the construction industry are also manufacturers – most frequently entrepreneurial businesses or micro- or small enterprises – operating according to the seasonal principle. Numerous occupational risks often appear in the construction industry, and  such risks must be anticipated and eliminated. In that sense, the probability of the realization of such risks, or that of potential occupational injuries or the occurrence of occupational diseases, need be reduced. The broader subject matter of the research conducted in the manuscript  whose topic addresses the protection and safety of employees in the construction industry is primarily research in the scientific and professional knowledge of employees’ protection at work and occupational safety, and the analysis of regulations, standards, practice.
