Abstract:
This article aims to highlight that in EU countries households are overburdened with housing expenditures in four basic categories:
- Owner with no outstanding mortgage or housing loan (A)
- Owner with mortgage or loan (B)
- Tenant paying rent at market price (C)
- Tenant paying rent with reduction or free (D)
This is exploratory research, and according to the type of data used is a quantitative research study. In the paper, we used statistical methods (Pearson's correlation coefficient, Biplot) to point out clusters of countries that are similar in terms of congestion in individual categories. Based on the cluster analysis, we can state that EU countries naturally divide into four clusters as per the countries' approach to housing solutions. The results show that more housing support investment will be needed in the future as part of reconstruction policy.
