Particularities Of The Use and Promotion Of The Management Based on Profit Centers Within Romanian Enterprises

Abstract:

The functioning of public and private organizations is increasingly influenced by the profound changes taking place in their management, also in their national and international environment. Romania, an emerging country with a high growth rate, compared to other similar countries in the European Union, has a private sector of SMEs with about 600 thousand enterprises, several thousand public enterprises of national and local interest, numerous public institutions providing services to local communities and citizens. The management of each category bears the mark of appreciable constructive and functional particularities and attempts to align with the trends in this field, realizing that without far-reaching managerial changes it is not possible to achieve economic performance. Managerial methodology is one of the trends, reflected in medium and large sized businesses, public or private, through managerial reengineering or simply through recruiting modern management instruments such as profit center based management, project management, dashboard s.o. Exploiting the benefits of such mutations requires professional managers and an organizational and managerial culture oriented towards performance. Our work deals with profit centre based management, the most complex and sophisticated method of operational management in some companies in Romania, along with the particularities of its rigorous use and promotion. The aim of our paper is to address the particularities of promoting and using profit center management in the context of a major trend in organizational management, called holocracy. The binder is the business format, generating new managerial mechanisms in the operation of the enterprise, especially in the decision area and the structural organization.
