Abstract:
Virtual or remote learning has been growing in popularity, in both student learning and corporate training. Given the recent global pandemic, a majority of learning and training moved to distance learning on learning management systems and platforms, such as Canvas, Moodle, and Blackboard. Videoconferencing tools and collaborative software would become the new normal for both learning, business, and training needs. Most learners have not heard of Zoom prior to last year or the year before. Zoom and Microsoft Teams, the videoconferencing and collaborative platforms, would gain popularity over the industry leaders, such as Cisco WebEx. With its recent boom and spike in usage, Zoom is now a new verb with a new meaning in the vernacular, on par with Google. The present study showcased learning theories and their corresponding tools and apps in learning management systems. Such communicative tools cultivate a richer learning experience for learners and business trainees through higher levels of engagement and participation.
