Abstract:
This preliminary research explores the senior management view of information systems and technology (IS&T) in three Australian organizations. The key areas covered are status of IS&T and perception of IS&T. The discussions presented on the selected organizations demonstrate that while the status of IS&T may not be optimal from an organizational hierarchy perspective the management perception is that IS&T is essential to the organization and that IS&T does in fact have a high status. The paper also suggests that perception may be one suitable indicator for assessing the status of IS&T within an organization.
