Performance Indicators for Virtual Organizations in Collaborative Context

Abstract:

Economic performance is the goal of every organization in the economic, social and political environment where it evolves. Explosive development of information and communications technology, in conjunction with current economic trends like globalization directly influence the economic results of the organization. All these along with the obvious resource crisis the current society is heading towards have convinced the organizations to turn to viable solutions for survival on global market. One such solution is the collaborative environment, which presents organizations with various possibilities for ad-hoc or long term association in order to capitalize on market opportunities – virtual organizations. In this paper we will highlight, in a systemic approach, the economic and technological context, premises, types of association and solutions that can be adopted by organizations to achieve the general goal of profit maximization. These solutions will be evaluated through performance indicators specific for collaborative environment organizations. Also, we will analyze how the performance indicator system for collaborative environment may represent the sufficient informational duality for the organization decisional level.
