Abstract:

The actual socio-economic context is marked by a strong dynamic that forces society to constantly find new ways to increase and improve the quality of life. In the same time, lately, the awareness of the importance of the environment in our life started to grow. In 2015 the United Nation launched the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, as a response to the increasing pressure of the environmental problems that societies must deal with. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the goals of the 2030 Agenda and offer a perspective from the civil engineering point of view. For this we present the main goals of the sustainable development plan and we identify what is the role of civil engineering specialists in achieving these goals. We identified the main directions where the efforts of the civil engineering specialists need to be directed and where their involvement can led to the achievement of the sustainable development goals.
