Perspectives about the Romanian Insurance Market and Quality of Insurance Products in Consumer’s Vision

Abstract:

Insurance industry has known an important growth during the last ten years, growth that has been sustained by the international investments,financial growth and the development of new insurance products that were required for special security needs in personal or business area. During the crises, the insurance sector has been also affected with major volume subscribing premiums due to the lack of liquidity although people should have been more risk averse than usually are. The purpose of this paper is to analyze if the crises had effect upon the quality of insurance products or if the insurance industry is maintaining its rate of evolution due to the numerous insurance policy type that were introduced on the market. Our attention is focused on the Romanian insurance market and its main characteristics, on the insurance density in the last ten years, evolution of penetration degree of insurance in GNI and the evolution of life insurance and general insurance in Romania. Nevertheless, our focus was also on the international and national tendencies in which concerns insurance markets and the quality of insurance products.
