Abstract:

Higher education represents itself a portfolio of activities that has the role to develop the academic skills of students and to prepare them for professional journey ahead. One of the main activities considered a challenge and an opportunity concurrently, is represented by article writing and publication in scientific journals or conference proceedings. This activity enables certain students to advance their research capabilities and to enhance their scholastic profile. As a direct result, some of them arrive in being involved in supplementary activities, such is the case of scientific articles evaluation before publication.

Current paper will mention characteristics associated to scientific articles reviewing process. This usually refers to the portfolio of actions performed by an individual, at the request of an editor or editorial committee. Scientific literature will be referred, to have an understanding on the revising procedure and features associated. Personal experience will be used to indicate practical situations an early reviewer may encounter while performing evaluation of academic papers. In the same time, particular points linked to ethics or academic integrity will be mentioned.
