Abstract:
Access to education is a key element for young people who are entering the labour market. It is also crucial to lower their unemployment rate. Among youngsters, those with intellectual disability face more difficulties to achieve full social and labour inclusion. Most of the time, higher education is not an option for them. This paper focuses on how to design an educational program at a higher education level to reduce these inequalities. Its purpose is to break the barriers that hinder access to the labour market for people with intellectual disabilities. The final model shows all the factors that must be taken into account: current social prejudices, individual interest and motivations and, the curricular design.
