Abstract:

The article is devoted to the essence of the port community system and its development in Polish seaports. The article discusses in detail the definitions of port community system in order to indicate the features that distinguish this system from other platforms for electronic data exchange. The main objective of the paper is to present the determinants of the effectiveness of the implementation of the Polish port community system and to identify the main problems of its implementation on the basis of a case study. The Polish solution is unique on a global scale because it connects all seaports of strategic importance to the economy. In the traditional view, the port community system is assigned to a single seaport, which limits its functional capability for the development of the entire seaport economy of a sea state.
