Potential for Autonomy as an Antecedent of Entrepreneurial Orientation Development

Abstract:

Entrepreneurial style of life favours the autonomy in both decision making and actions. The question is if autonomy, independency and self-reliance are correlated with entrepreneurial orientation, and from this reason, the potential for autonomy should be developed within educational system to strengthen entrepreneurial intentions of students. The main aim of the article is investigation of the impact of expectations towards autonomy on entrepreneurial intentions of students. The hypotheses are empirically tested with survey data obtained from 243 students of management. The answer distribution and then the multiple regression model was used to verify the hypotheses. The results indicate that there is a dependency between autonomy constructs and entrepreneurial intentions of students. It leads to conclusion that building of potential for autonomy should be a key object of interest education system as a way to entrepreneurial orientation development within society, and indirectly to intensify economic development of a country.
