Potential of Microcube Wind Turbine in Management of Renewable Energy at Small Scale

Abstract:

According to International Renewable Energy Agency, global targets were set for the clean energy production sector, in an attempt to reduce global emissions by 60%. To achieve this goal, there is a high need of innovation and technology in the renewable energy sector with a focus on environmental policies and socio-economic impact [1]. Wind and solar energies are in focus to achieve these goals. Wind energy is an important contributor to clean energy production and it is one of the lowest cost renewable energy technologies available today. Given the fact that large wind turbines need considerable wind speed to operate efficiently, it is important to consider the cumulative effect of micro wind turbines that can function at low wind speed. Solar energy is another popular option of clean energy that plays an important role in the global clean energy production for household use and solar farms. The paper proposes to highlight the use of a new wind turbine technology using microcubes in comparison with a traditional wind turbine and solar panels of the same capacity (small scale).
