Abstract:
Flexible operations of the organization are primarily due to changes in the business environment, but the multidimensionality of the concept of the flexibility of operations leads to the considerations in terms of organizational behavior from the perspective of enterprise management. The flexibility of operation, as a characteristic of family businesses, is identified in all management areas, including the area of organizational and innovative change management. Family businesses are a special group, among others, characterized by the type of management, level of innovativeness, acquisition and mobilization of capital, cultural continuity, but also stability. The objective of the article is to assess the level of flexible operations in the area of organizational and innovative change management by family businesses. The survey using the authors’ research tool, conducted on a group of Polish family businesses, enabled the conclusions to be drawn using statistical methods. The conducted analysis indicated that, among the factors affecting the level of flexible operations in the area of organizational and innovative change management, including the implementation of changes and innovation and new technologies, there are the ones characterizing enterprises as family businesses. The determinants conditioning the level of flexible operations in the analyzed area, based on the conducted research, include the participation of family members in the power in the company as well as the generational profile of the company.
