Practicing Knowledge Management: The Contributing Factors among Academics

Abstract:

Academics in a university have always been encouraged to share knowledge among their peers especially within the internal university environment. Somehow, this practice in recent years have created a new meaning and knowledge management practice is encouraged not only within academics in the same university but in fact collaborations among academics from other universities as well. Thus, what contributes to this practice? This paper will be discussing on the main contributing factors that actually encourages knowledge management practice. In fact, knowledge management refers to a range of practices used by organizations to identify, create, represent, and distribute knowledge for reuse, awareness and learning across the organization. The programmes are related to organizational objectives and are intended to lead to the achievement of specific business outcomes such as shared business intelligence, improved performance, competitive advantage or higher levels of innovation.
