Preconditions of an Individual to Cope Emergencies in the Area of Soft Targets

Abstract:

Soft targets are places with high concentration of population and a low level of security. Compared to so-called hard targets, these places are not permanently protected. Soft targets are, for instance, shopping centers, schools, transport, airport terminals, gatherings, clubs, restaurants, etc. Soft targets face a wide range of threats of different types, whether by individuals (mostly so-called lone wolves) or by different groups. Attacks on soft targets are linked to the deaths of the population, many injured, but also panic, chaos and stress. Due to the increasing intensity and frequency of violent attacks, in addition to securing these targets, it is necessary to cope these events both by the present individuals and by the Integrated Rescue System. This article deals with the preconditions of an individual to cope emergencies, deciding on them and their effective coping.
