Abstract:
 As a result of the recession that included almost the entire world, the global labor market is facing stressful situation. A reorientation of global labor market strategies occurs. Employment policies should be oriented so that the active work potential to be available, capable and trained to fill jobs offered by an economy in crisis. An important role in the economic strategies reorientation from the labor market in the current context, is played by the reform of education and professional training of the workforce, which is regarded as a national priority that will replace the social slogan that has been used over the last few years: "A job for everyone" with the slogan "Covering the economy with the workers needed". Challenges brought about by the labor market in Romania are related to the employment targets set in the Lisbon European Council, the achievement of employment structure based on productivity increase, reducing unemployment rate among young people, adopting an economic growth model based on employment increase.
