Priority Competencies of Managers in the Modern Dynamic Organisational Environment

Abstract:

The author of this article focuses on the importance of the competencies of managers in modern organisations. The emphasis in the article is put on the dynamism of changes in the contemporary business environment, being a determinant of adequate managerial competencies -  involving skills and knowledge as well as experience and personal traits.

Managerial competencies may concern various organisational activities, such as providing high-quality products or services. At the same time, they may relate to one's ability to perform specified tasks, which is crucial, especially for managers, who have a direct impact on their employees and their performance. The development of managerial competencies appears to be a key element of working in a modern organisation and is motivated by the need to face the challenges and potential failures, which may occur during fulfilment of organisational tasks. Managers must be ready to constantly improve their skills in order to lead their teams and achieve goals.

The article describes the set of managerial competencies in modern organisations, which was developed on the basis of research conducted in selected companies. The purpose of the research was to identify the most important competencies which mostly influence the effectiveness and achieving success of a particular organisation.

The results suggest that the most crucial managerial competencies are: team management, decision-making skills, interpersonal communication, and the ability to adapt to constantly changing business conditions. Moreover, it is also important to exhibit leadership skills, motivate employees and create a positive atmosphere. 

The article ends with conclusions and recommendations for managers, who desire to develop their competencies in order to effectively manage modern organisations. The author emphasises the crucial role of competencies in achieving success and the need for constant development and improvement of managers.
