Abstract:
The text deals with the results of the mixed design research of professional value orientation, implemented on a sample of 151 respondents – students in military study programs after the first year of study. Questions were asked in the research: Will a change occur in the respondents in the degree of identification with the value profile ascertained through a standardized questionnaire created for the civilian population if they are to adopt an attitude towards the situation connected with their future military profession? What moral values will most often occur in the rationale? For the quantitative part of the research, the Schwartz's approach to values and the inventory designed by him for identifying value profiles in an abridged version of 21 questions, and its variation for a professional-oriented situation (ATMoD) with a focus on the higher-order values have been used. The same – six-point scales have been used for both. The respondents were asked to give their reasons for each attitude in the ATMoD instrument in writing. Then, in the qualitative part of the research, the written answers were evaluated using the grounded theory, with the intent to identify professional beliefs in the value profiles. The research activity originated in connection with the solution of a specific research project on Moral Integrity and the Personality of a Member of the Army of the Czech Republic SV15-FVL-K104-06-MIK and is now continuing within the long-term project for the organization development entitled "Development of Social Competencies of the soldier- leader".
