Professionalization as a Value System: A Structural Insight

Abstract:

The purpose of this article is to interpret professionalization as a value system, which can  operate at macro – meso – micro levels. Macro means markets or even a state; meso deals with an organization and institution; and finally, a personal or group level is represented by micro.

For each level, a basic graphic model was developed. The micro-level structure of the profession as part of the other superstructures, to which subsequently another structural entity-the company and theorized about the topic: (partial) taking over the roles. At the mezzo level, an analysis with the real company, a small health clinic, was conducted. In addition, a basic calculation in the UCINET 6.0 environment, specifically the analysis of cliques, was performed. At the macro level the graphic model was extended with other subjects, and again analyzed in the UCINET 6.0 environment. This demonstrated interactions between the extended number of stakeholders and their macro level grouping through the Gower Scaling layout.
