Abstract:

Industry 4.0 concept incorporates a few key technologies such as Big Data, Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing and Augmented Reality. Industry 4.0 technologies offer great opportunities for the SME sector to enhance its competitiveness. One of the key issues in Industry 4.0 projects is that Industry 4.0 solutions require a comprehensive approach at both the technical and organizational/process levels. Projects related to Industry 4.0 are complicated, more complex, fraught with uncertainty and ambiguous, making it challenging for project managers to manage them. Despite research on the relationship between the competencies of the project leader and the success of the project, few of them deal with the competencies of the project manager in the era of implementing Industry 4.0 solutions in SMEs. Therefore, the aim of this article is to determine which of the project manager's competencies, included in three categories: emotional intelligence competencies, cognitive intelligence competencies and social intelligence competencies, are the most important for the successful implementation of Industry 4.0 solutions in small and medium-sized enterprises.
