Abstract:
Date palm is a major agricultural crop in Oman. However, pests and led to a decrease in the production of dates. The purpose of this paper is to elucidate the development process of Date Palm Expert System prototype. Developing system started by eliciting knowledge from expert domain from college of Agriculture and Marian Science and related books and websites. Decision table was used to build the logic of Date Palm Expert System. Then, the logic converted to system language as if-then rules in e2go freeware rule-based shell. The developed system prototype reviewed by expert domain to verify system's logic. Besides, a number of potential users had experiment the prototype system to evaluate its characteristics, strengths and weaknesses.
