Psychosocial Risks at Workplace

Abstract:

The current period brings a lot of changes in the organization's internal as well as external environments. Under the influence of changes and increased demands, the work environment considerably changes. Work environment create one of the major component of an enterprise because it is made up of employees, executives and the whole human factor of an enterprise that has an important role in fulfilling the goals and the reason of existence of an enterprise. These changes in the work environment oftentimes can have, in addition to positive impacts for business operation, also a negative impact on employee psyche, which can lead to stress at work. The threats that can lead to these psychological negative impacts are called psychosocial risks. These are the negative psychological, physical, and social consequences of poor structure, organization, and management of work. The aim of the paper is to point out the theoretical background and specifics of psychosocial risks and their connection to stress in the workplace. For companies to function effectively, it is essential that managers also monitor emerging risks in the workplace. The current time, which is largely associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, significantly affects the working environment and working conditions. The practical part of the paper is devoted to the analysis of secondary data, which are focused on selected areas related to covid-19 and the working environment.
