Public Awareness And Perception Of Public Relations Activations At A Universal Education Board In Nigeria

Abstract:

The study focused on what the perception of the public is regarding the public relations (PR) activations of Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (LSUBEB). Do they know if such department exist? Are the PR activations helping in curbing lack of quality education? These were the research questions. The respondents are employees of SUBEB. Their selection was based on their positioning to know if public relations operated in schools. The statement of the problem, which is lack of quality education hinges on the Sustainable Development Goal 4 (quality education). Also, the researcher adopted the Excellent Theory of public relations, which is about how the practitioners make the organisation useful, organised and well managed. The sample size was purposively selected. In SUBEB, the teachers (employees) were randomly selected from primary schools because they are under the management of the agency. The Scientific Package for the Social Science (SPSS) processed the data supplied by the questionnaire. Tabulations in percentages expressed the findings, further discussed based on the three research questions of the study. The researcher also recommended that PR activations should be more impactful so that the public can have a satisfactory perception of their duties.
