Abstract:
This study examines public awareness and perception of the public relations activities of local government and traditional councils in Ogun State, Nigeria. The purpose is to evaluate the extent to which public relations practices connect with the general public and the consequences of such connectivity. Research method employed is the survey design, using the questionnaire instrument to gather respondents’ opinion. Indepth interview was also conducted with public relations professionals for further insights. The main function of PROs in government institutions is to help articulate the government policy and to publicise the ministries' activities. Essentially, a PRO should try to make his or her ministry more accountable to the public. This study is meant to evaluate the PROs level of accountability.
