Public Security Perceived Through the Lens of Identified Social Pathological Behaviour in the Place of Residence – Case of Poland

Abstract:

The paper presents the analysis of qualitative research conducted among the sample (N=280) of Polish citizens  of northern (Pomerania) and central regions of Poland (Masovian Region) by direct testing method, using on-line version of self-developed non standardized questionnaire regarding to conditions of public security via subjective perception of threats connected with different forms of pathological behaviors occurred in places of residence of respondents. The statistical analysis using chi square test revealed the Polish citizens  evaluate  their public security on a satisfaction level, although some minor forms of social pathology repeatedly occur in the public space independently of the region of the country. Oobtained data are supposed to be treated as s the pilot study which can be continued on a more extensive group of respondents in more safe post-pandemic reality.
