Abstract:
The objective of the paper is to demonstrate the problems of the operation of public transport. In the introduction, there is presented the content describing the conditions indicating how efficient and effective public transport management is. Subsequently, there are presented the own research results, which allowed for responding to the formulated research questions. The first one was the following: how do the dwellers of the surveyed city assess the quality of the public transport fleet? The second research question was formulated as follows: what actions should be taken by relevant units to increase the attractiveness of public transport?
The issues presented in the paper are extremely important since it can be observed that, year by year, the number of registered motor vehicles used by the public for travelling for different purposes has increased. Public transport is an alternative for carriages conducted by own means of transport. Moreover, this allows the reduction in adverse events faced by cities. Most of all, they include: the occurrence of congestion and environmental pollution from road transport. Therefore, the considerations discussed in the paper are the most up-to-date and of great significance.
