Abstract:

Overcoming the crisis related to the COVID-19 pandemic will be a challenge for economies both on a global and local scale. The world after the pandemic will change both structurally and systemically, therefore it is necessary to prepare new strategies today. These actions must take into account not only solving economic problems, but also those related to the global climate crisis, the effects of which are increasingly visible. In the process of changes, consisting in a departure from an economy of excess towards a sustainable economy, combining economic, social (including employee) and environmental interests, enterprises play an important role, and public utility enterprises in urban areas. The specific type of their activities related to municipal management, and especially waste management, water and sewage management and local public transport, has a direct impact on the conditions and quality of life of the local community. It is also associated with reducing pollution not only in urban areas.
