Publish or Perish: Still a Concern?

Abstract:

First known in 1932 and popularized a few decades later by Eugene Garfield in 1996, this imperative of "publish or perish" expresses, in so many words, the enormous pressure on academics to produce research as a matter of furtherance and security in their careers. Such pressure becomes systemic, rooted in more profound changes within the rapidly changing landscape of higher education.
