Abstract:

The purpose of this paper is to examine the quality of work-life and its effects on employee commitment: A study of TVC communications, Ketu, Lagos. The study focused on the Nigerian broadcast sector to examine the effects of a compensation package, job security, competency development, and employee well-being on employees’ commitment, namely normative, affective, continuance, and behavioural commitment respectively. The descriptive research design method was adopted for the paper and the questionnaire was used to gather relevant data for this research. The study adopted the use of stratified and purposive techniques and a structured questionnaire was used for data collection. The population size is 300 employees with a sample size of 171 respondents which was determined using Taro Yamen Formula, however, only 157 copies of the questionnaire were filled and returned. The data obtained were analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) and Structural Equation Model (SEM) while Regression analysis was used for the analysis. The result indicated that the significance level was lower than 0.05% which caused the alternate hypothesis to be accepted. The result pointed out that compensation package, job security, competency development, and employee well-being all had a significant influence on normative, affective, continuance, and behavioral commitment respectively. The study, therefore, recommends that organizations should continually review their policies and processes to ensure that compensation packages, job security, competency development, and employee well-being are given more attention so that employee commitment was earned.
