Abstract:
Data growth has major effects on the government systems. It degrades performance and limits the availability of mission-critical applications and data warehouses. In the area of information technology, almost all government sectors observed a continues and an unprecedented rate of data growth of stored and archived documents in electronic format. Most estimates are that of all the information stored, either personal or organizational, only 20% is ever actually accessed and used again, and only 5% is used regularly. Our research studies the data growth in the computer systems available in some public/government sectors in the state of Kuwait. Analyzing historical data, it spots the light on the data growth within the client's machines using different approaches.
