Abstract:
This paper includes analysis of areas covered with fruit orchards and the fruit production in Romania for the period 2004-2013. Share of area under fruit plantations in the total agricultural area of Romania registered a decreasing from 1,5% in 2004 to 1,35% in 2013. Analysing the production of important species of fruit, it was found that the highest production was achieved with plum and apple. In the period 2004-2013 the fruit trees has constantly decreased. At the regional level, the South-Muntenia Region includ the main area under orchards.
