Regional Disparities in the Central and Eastern European Countries

Abstract:

The aim of the article is to analyse the economic and social developments of the NUTS 2 regions from the Central and Eastern Europe. Considering several social and economic indicators used in other similar studies and the Europe 2020 Strategy, all 56 regions were split into 5 clusters, in order to minimize the variation within a group and maximize the variation between groups. Data was processed using SPSS 20 software. The analysis reflects major regional disparities, including among NUTS 2 regions that are part of the same country. To better illustrate the result of our analysis, we have used GIS software.
