Abstract:

The paper describes the areas where the regional technological observatory can be useful for innovative companies that tie their development with the development of regional smart specializations. The paper presents the scope of information presented by the Regional Technology Observatories in the Silesian Province matched with the expectations of entrepreneurs representing smart specializations. The Regional Technology Observatories have been created as instruments for monitoring development strategy at the regional self-government level. The scope of gathered information may be useful for the companies sector that are one of the most important stakeholders of the implemented pro-innovative policy. Because the scope of gathered information on smart specializations within European regions is similar, the presented recommendations may be useful in different regions based on analogy even if there are no specialist observatories or other initiatives to monitor economic data within the scope of research and development, innovation and development of individual sectors.
