Regional SME Support Instruments on the Example of Selected EU Countries. Research Carried out in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship in Poland

Abstract:

Economic development is stimulated at various levels: national, regional and local. Planning instruments are important instruments for such stimulation. At the national level, in Poland, these are mainly national development strategies, or documents such as National Development Plans, National Reconstruction Plans, or documents relating to the development of individual economic sectors, etc. Financial instruments are other important instruments. In Poland, such an instrument at the central level is, inter alia, Polish Development Fund.

At the regional level, planning instruments include: regional development strategies, plans or strategies relating to a given economic sector, such as voivodeship waste management plans. Among the financial instruments at this level, various regional funds, mainly public, can be distinguished. They can also be entities responsible for economic development in a given voivodeship, such as various types of regional development agencies. In relation to the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship, such an entity is, for example, the Toruń Regional Development Agency (TARR).
