Regulatory Impact Analysis using Cost-Benefit Analysis. An Agency Perspective

Abstract:

Regulatory impact analysis offers an economic instrument to decision-makers in order to validate or invalidate the efficiency of some future decision which they are thinking to implement. Regulatory impact analysis could be based on numerous instruments, but one of the most recommendable is cost-benefit analysis. From agency theory perspective, this instrument helps principals to control better information asymmetry to the benefit of the society. Our study emphasizes the main role and characteristics of cost-benefit analysis in regulatory impact analysis, offering also a case study on the situation from United States of America.
