Relationship between Work Life Balance and Job Satisfaction of Reception and Concierge Employees in Five-Star Hotels in Colombo

Abstract:

Purpose of this study was to recognise actors that Influential on Receptionists and Concierge Employees in Hotels, experiencing Poor Work-Life Balance. The population of the research consists of receptionist and concierge staff in 5-star hotels in Colombo area. The population of the research consists of receptionist and concierge staff in 5-star hotels in Colombo area. Thus, the population was selected as described above and the total number of receptionist staff (80) and concierge staff (30) of these five hotels is 110. The researcher used the entire population as the sample of the study. As this is a quantitative research study that uses primary data, mainly the data collection was done via a constructed questionnaire survey. Data was collected via a standard questionnaire developed built on the existing measurement scales in the literature which are already tested and validated widely by previous researches in the domain of work-life balance and job satisfaction. There is a positive relationship between involvement balance, satisfaction balance and time balance and employee job satisfaction. Thus, as expected, all three variables had positive relationships with job satisfaction and it was evident that there is actually a work-life balance problem within receptionists and concierge in all five star hotels in the Colombo district. Consequently, developed three hypothesis were accepted.
