Remarks on the Use of Fertilisers and the Soil Quality in Brăila County, Romania

Abstract:

Expenditure on maintaining the productive and qualitative potential of cultivated plants can be substantially reduced when we know the specific soil characteristics of the area on which the agricultural crops are developed. Depending on the characteristics of the area, certain correlations can be made between the soil composition and the plants that are advisable to be cultivated in order to obtain a maximum production potential. The research carried out in this paper proposed an assessment of the agricultural production potential and the interpretation of the agricultural yields according to the soil quality in Brăila County, in the South East Region of Romania. The fertilisation treatments can correct the composition of the soils, and in this case it is also necessary to carry out studies on the need for fertilisers according to the natural composition of the soil with emphasis on those soils on which chemical and natural fertilisers were applied previously. The information was gathered based on the official database of Brăila region. The information provided by the national and local statistics was used for the agricultural productions. The data was processed and interpreted. The results show that it is not possible to achieve an exact correlation between the compositional characteristics of the soil and the amount of chemical fertilisers distributed at the national level. The research is new and can represent the basis of the vegetation production strategies for Brăila County. We believe that the information obtained is useful mainly for the local business environment, but also for the local and international scientific community.
