Abstract:
European law measures related to the fact that fuel fossil fuels are not renewable energy, greenhouse gas pollution or rising oil prices force EU Member States to use different types of renewable resources including biomass to produce energy.
In this context, the present paper reviewed the capitalization of renewable energy sources at the level of the EU member states in South-Eastern Europe - the production, consumption and imports of biogas and biodiesel respectively. The paper focuses on biomass as a renewable resource for energy production. Romania, as an EU member state, is taking advantage of renewable biomass resources at national level. In the present paper, measures that could contribute to increasing the production of biomass energy at national level have been proposed.
