Research Innovation towards Commercialization

Abstract:

Nowadays researchers at the university are involved in activities which are not limited to research and development but also commercialization and entrepreneurship. These are the new paradigm and challenge as academicians and researchers as they have to commercialize their research innovations to give impact to the community. This paper aims to help readers to understand the need for research innovation to be commercialized at the university. It is important for researchers to understand their involvement in commercialization of research innovation. Besides, they need to know of the available support and service from the university for commercialization. We describe comprehensive elements for the successful commercialization effort to encourage involvement of researchers towards commercialization. We present these elements in a generic model that could be referred as guideline for academicians to get involved in commercialization their research innovations. In overall, commercialization is more than ten times hard work compare to produce innovation. Therefore, researchers must take a way steps forward to realize commercialization at the university.
