Abstract:

Telecommunications have a huge impact on the development of all areas of human life in the contemporary economy. This is especially evident in the development of the digital economy and Industry 4.0, including the introduction of modern digital technologies such as mobile networks, Internet of things, artificial intelligence, big data technology, distributed registry (blockchain), unmanned transport vehicles, etc. The implementation of these technologies and the development of the digital economy leads to the creation and development of telecommunication systems and the development of the telecommunications industry. At the same time, an important aspect is to identify trends in the development of the telecommunications industry, which determines the relevance of the chosen topic. The aim of the work is to study and analyze the publication activity of the world scientific community in the field of telecommunications, presented in the universal bibliographic and abstract database Scopus, to determine the prospects for the development of the telecommunications market. The authors conducted a study of scientometric indicators for a number of technologies and sub-technologies. It was found that mobile networks lead in the number of publications. Within mobile networks, the greatest interest of researchers is focused on 5G technologies. A new direction is actively developing – the Internet of things. Within the Internet of things the undoubted leader in the number of studies is the direction of "Smart Cities". The leading countries in the analyzed areas are China and the United States. The Russian Federation is one of the three leaders in information security.
