Abstract:
The analysis of the changes produced in the rural population it is in the attention of the specialists and the decision-makers, considering their impact on the food security, the environment and the economic development in general. The study aims to analyse the demographic structural changes in the Romanian rural area. Following the analysis of the evolution of the main characteristics of the rural population in Romania during the period 2007-2019, as well as their spatial differences, were identified significant factors that can have a positive or negative influence on the phenomenon of demographic change in the rural area. The statistical data used in the study were obtained from the national bases, using as research units 2,857 communes ina Romania classified NUT5 and analysed using the statistical model with multiple regression. According to the results obtained, the spatial differentiation of population changes in the rural environment is significantly related to socio-economic indicators, infrastructure indicators, as well as agricultural indicators. Demographic changes can have a negative effect on the rural area, so it is considered necessary to find measures and solutions to reduce the demographic decline.
